There is a moment we have witnessed many times now, and it never stops moving us.

A family stands in front of a door they have never opened. The parents are holding a key that is finally theirs. The children push past them the way children do — and then stop, suddenly quiet, because there are beds. Real beds. With blankets that no one else has used.

For months, home was a hotel room. Four people, two suitcases, one window. Dinner was a dining hall with hundreds of strangers who had all lost the same thing. The children did homework on a bed. The parents whispered their worries in the bathroom so no one would hear.
